Elmore – Ada Water Project Announces the Launch of a Water Supply Feasibility Study Southeast of Boise
09/12/07—Boise, Idaho

The Elmore‐Ada Water Project announced today that it has launched a fully‐funded feasibility study to evaluate water supply and delivery opportunities for the region southeast of Boise. The general area being evaluated is between Boise and Mountain Home along the I‐84 corridor, specifically spanning the region framed by Mayfield, Orchard, Simco Road and the Kuna‐Mora road sections of western Elmore and eastern Ada counties.

Bob Taunton, project manager of the Elmore‐Ada Water Project, states, “This feasibility study is the first step toward providing a long‐term sustainable water supply to this area.” Taunton adds, “We are very pleased to have the support of so many interested participants to launch this project, and we are energized about starting the feasibility study immediately. The study will focus on identifying solutions to keep Idaho’s water resources in the state for the benefit of Idaho residents.”

The feasibility study is the first part of this long‐term project and is expected to be completed within 12‐15 months.

Steve C. Swanson of Orchard Land LLC adds, “We are very pleased to be part of this regional planning effort to evaluate sustainable water supply alternatives for Elmore and Ada counties. We also commend the principals of SPF Water Engineering, LLC for having the initiative to bring together a consortium of interested parties, which include landowners and municipal and private entities, to address the critical water resource needs of the region.”

Karl Dreher, former Director of the Idaho Department of Water Resources, and currently Vice President of Water Resources with Brown & Caldwell, an environmental and engineering consulting firm, described the project concept as “a visionary approach to environmentally sustainable water supply development.” Dreher, who is serving as an advisor for the project, notes that “this project will promote efficient regionalized water supply planning and will provide for maximum utilization of available water supplies.”

About Elmore – Ada Water Project

The primary short‐term purpose of the company is to perform a comprehensive feasibility study to evaluate the opportunity to provide a water supply to this area. Elmore‐Ada Water Project, LLC is a wholly‐owned subsidiary of SPF Water Engineering, a Boise‐based engineering company specializing in water supply, water rights, and water facility design, construction and operations.
